How to think

In my opinion there are three golden rules to follow in order to become real man. I don’t care if you read nothing else, but please read these three rules carefully. They can change your life if you apply them on a day to day basis.

1. Be confident!

A real man has a great self confidence. A real man believes in himself.

Here is my definition of self confidence: Feeling good about yourself. If you are confident, you don’t care what others have to say about you.

If you have a low self confidence then  I got some good news for you: self confidence can be learned! It will take some practice, but you can become as confident as Mr. James Bond.

Here are a few things that you can do right now (or withing the next few weeks) to  practice self confidence. I call it the Self Confidence Jump Start:

  • Groom yourself and keep your clothes clean. If you look better, you will feel better.
  • Work out. Grow some muscles. Physical strength conveys self confidence.
  • Stand tall, pay attention to your posture. If you look confident, you will feel confident (especially if you wear a suite).
  • Repeat the following phrase at least 10 times a day: “I like myself”. Remember: you have to feel good about yourself.

2. Have goals in your life!

A life without a purpose is boring and useless.  And a real man knows that. All great man in our history had goals. Alexander the Great wanted to conquer the world, Julius Caesar wanted to rule Rome all by himself and George Washington fought for the independence of the United States.

Your goals have to be specific, measurable, realistic and with a time-line. A goal without a time-line is just a dream. If you already have set your goals in your life, then you have all my respect. If not, then here is a simple goal setting method for you:

  • Get a pen and a piece of paper.
  • Write down 10 things that you want to achieve financially in the next 5 years.
  • Write down 10 things that you want to achieve in your personal life in the next 5 years.
  • Prioritize your goals. What is your most important financial goal and your most important personal life goal? Write down those two goals again.
  • Now write down for each of those two goals a list of things you will have to do in order to achieve those goals. What would be the  first step to take?
  • Keep this paper in a place that is visible, so you can see your goals each day.

3. Don’t be afraid of failure!

Failure is your teacher. Keep that in mind. Every time you fail, you learn something new. Failure leads to experience. And experience leads to a greater self confidence.

Next time when you experience failure, don’t whine or get upset. Try to find out what’s good in that situation, so you can learn from it. What could you do in the future to avoid failure in a situation like that? Or what could you do to avoid the situation? You will feel much better by doing this. Trust me. I have been there a thousand times.
